Philia was founded by Finnish designer Tuulia Ivalo, whose background in Milan has shaped a deep respect for craftsmanship and timeless design. Every Philia garment is made in Umbria, Italy, in family-owned ateliers that carry generations of expertise. Tuulia knows each maker personally and values the skill and precision that define their work.

The process begins with the careful selection of yarns. Some workshops specialize in refining the finest merino wool, while others focus on exceptional cashmere. From there, the journey continues through the knitters, washers and pressers, each step guided by knowledge passed down over time.

Tuulia often sources surplus fabrics from Italian luxury houses, giving new life to high-quality materials that might otherwise remain unused. This approach blends responsibility with beauty, staying true to Philia’s belief that luxury should be thoughtful, lasting and honest.
